The Matrix Online, developed by Monolith Productions was released on March 22nd, 2005 in the United States. The character system in The Matrix Online is pretty wicked if i do say so myself. You can be a Coder, Hacker or Operative, wish are quite similar to other classes in adventure & fantasy mmorpg's. There are subclasses that branch off from the Coder, Hacker and Operative that are divided to about 21 in total. The class system is absolutely amazing to be honest, and is just like the movie, if you think about it.

There are missions in The Matrix Online like quests, but named different and there are different priorities that need to be done than just going out and killing a rat like in everquest (for example). There are 3 organizations or sets of missions that you can do, you have the Zion, the Machines and the Merovingian. Each with it's own rules, factions and set of missions based on the storyline and background that they come from. The graphics in The Matrix Online are almost exactly alike as the movie itself. They amazed me beyond belief and i would like to see more and more of The Matrix Online, whether it's expansions or new matrix games in the future. The developers of The Matrix Online did a great job all in all, i enjoy the storyline and everything about this mmorpg.

The currency used in The Matrix Online is Matrix Online Information. Information can be obtained by fighting your way through various humanoids or machine type creatures. Or by simply doing Missions / quests in your adventure in The Matrix Online. Sony Online Entertainment actually took over Monolith productions in past transactions. I assume Sony wanted to further progress the game more than Monolith could do. The Matrix Online is currently a Pay 2 Play mmorpg, which requires a monthly fee in order to play. There are different packages or subscription fees you can do, whether its 1 month, 3 months, 6 months or 1 year. Each package that is upgraded the monthly fee is reduced by a certain portion depending on the company.
